Zillmere Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC) is a community of faith, culture, and connection located on Brisbane’s northside. We are part of the broader Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress movement, which brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander spirituality with the life-giving message of the Christian gospel. Our community is shaped by deep cultural heritage, spiritual strength, and a commitment to walk together in unity and mutual respect.
In 1982 at Crystal Creek, just north of Townsville, First Peoples came together, Christian leaders from across Australia. Guided by the Spirit they discerned a vision for a National Congress - a First Peoples movement, within the UCA.
In 1985, the Assembly of the Uniting Church in Australia unanimously welcomed and agreed to officially support the formation of the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress (UAICC).
Zillmere Congress has grown from the vision and dedication of local Aboriginal and Islander leaders who sought a place where faith and culture could be celebrated side by side. Over the years, our congregation has become a spiritual home for families, Elders, young people, and visitors—creating a safe, welcoming space grounded in love, respect, and belonging.
We honour those who came before us and continue their legacy by nurturing community, strengthening identity, and building pathways for healing and hope.
Our Christian faith is central to everything we do. We believe that the Creator is present in our stories, our culture, our families, and our community. Our worship reflects who we are as First Peoples—rich in song, prayer, language, art, and cultural expression.
We seek to model Christ’s message of justice, compassion, and reconciliation as we walk with one another and with the wider community.

At Zillmere Congress, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We gather for worship, fellowship, pastoral care, cultural activities, youth programs, and community outreach. We support one another through life’s challenges and celebrate life’s milestones together.
Whether you have been part of Congress for years or are visiting for the first time, you are embraced with warmth, respect, and belonging.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to honouring our Elders, strengthening our cultural identity, and nurturing the next generation of leaders. We continue to build partnerships across Brisbane that promote reconciliation, justice, and unity.
